Engineering samples are not supposed to be on sale. Also no cooler supplied ?

It's only 2,2Ghz, you can get boxed 'skylake' Pentium G4500 proc @3.5Ghz for roughly € 99,-/$112,-/77 GBP (inl. all taxes) in the Netherlands. My guess is that, eventhough the Pentium has only 2 cores and smaller cache, thanks to it's higher clock speed probably is a bit faster then this slower i7. So why bother with a second hand processor ?

And if you do need HyperThreading, get an i3, not much more expensive and 3MB instead of 2MB L3 cache. Really need quad core ? i5 or i7, depending on the software needs.

Me, I just build my PC's with i3's, i5/i7 are a lot more expensive and I don't really need 4 cores. The money saved can go to a decent SSD of videocard. If on a budget e Pentium version will do quite nicely. It all depends on the need for a certain computer. My 2 servers @home are build with Gigabyte GA-J1900N-D3V motherboards, quad core 2Ghz Celeron 'atom style' processors. Performance is IMHO good enough for everyday PC work. :)
