Any recent installs? Go back to the restore point before latest install? Since I run my computer in powersave mode now, it's on almost 24 hours a day. You have booted your computer lately? I haven't tried Chrome. Do you like it?

Try reinstalling Adobe Flash Player.

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

*Note: Make sure you Opt Out of installing McAfee along with it. :D

If you've recently put any extensions on your browser, try disabling those and see if it works

What llama said, then look for advance options which should show seperately vol bars for browser, TS system etc. further to that. Heck sound devices and that your default communication devices are selected correctly. Can't remember exact locations off head but there are settings that should resolve this surf for you it's just finding them. As its just YouTube and browser I'd bet it's just vol setting somewhere nothing to do with drivers or hardware.

Upon discovery of Brigg's problem I opened up Chrome to play around. I am getting the same issues and it does not show on my volume mixer either. It doesn't want to play videos for more than 2-3 seconds. I tried a reinstall and still nothing. I run zero extra add-ons and most of the ones that come with chrome are disabled unless necessary.

I say use Firefox or IE if problems persist and no help is available here or elsewhere.

Checked my install of Chrome tonight and I had the same problem.
Found this page and even though the symptoms aren't the same, got mine working again:

http://techlogon.com/2011/08/11/shockwave-flash-crashes-in-google-chrome/

I had 3 versions of flash installed in Chrome.
Disabled the 2 non-adobe flash files and it started working.
Hope this helps.
